All about international postal in Iran!

Due to the membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Universal Postal Union, it is possible to provide international postal services. You can send or receive your parcels post according to the rules and regulations of Iran Post. Of course, there are also companies that have been created specifically for the purpose of sending international mail shipments, and you can ask them for help and guidance in this field.

In relation to international mail, Iran Post Office mentions a few important things for customers when sending foreign parcels to other countries, some of the most important ones are mentioned:

  • It is the responsibility of the sender to write the “exact address of the sender and recipient” for sending any type of mail. To send parcels, it is required to present a valid ID card and its copy to the sender.
  • Tracking of all international postal parcels (imported and exported) can be tracked at «tracking.post.ir» with the parcel tracking code.
  • Compliance with customs regulations, restrictions and prohibitions in the countries of origin and destination is one of the duties of the sender and if the shipment is detained at the customs of the destination country, the shipment will be treated according to the customs laws of the destination country. And no compensation will be paid to the sender or receiver.
  • In case of loss or damage of registered mails, deposits and insured mails (if it is the fault of the postal service), the sender has the right to receive compensation according to the regulations. This right can be assigned to the recipient if the sender waives his right in favor of the recipient by submitting a written request to the originating post office.
  • All shipments sent after entering the destination country must be delivered to the recipient according to the distribution standards of that country and according to the selected service; Delay or non-distribution of shipments according to the standards set in the destination country does not create any right for the customer to receive compensation.
  • Sending goods by mail, maintaining the non-commercial aspect, except for the goods that are prohibited by law, without requiring a commercial card and issuance license, is allowed at any price, in compliance with other regulations. If the exit of some goods in this way becomes a commercial flow, the Ministry of Commerce can announce the list of said goods to the customs to prevent their exit.
  • Note- The maximum amount of foreign goods that can be sent by mail will be 80 dollars for each person.
  • Clearance of goods imported by mail, except for items whose entry is prohibited by law, provided that it does not have a commercial aspect, up to a maximum value of eighty (80) dollars in the name of each person without paying customs duties and commercial interest, without requiring a card.
  • The entry and exit of any type of goods in the form of postal items from the country, if it takes on a commercial aspect (imports and exports), is prohibited and requires necessary permits.

Types of international parcel delivery methods:

DTD:

One of the most common methods and at the same time the best methods of sending parcels abroad is to use the DOOR TO DOOR method. In this method, the parcel is received from the sender’s door and sent directly to the recipient’s door. Considering the direct delivery of mail to the recipient’s door, this method is one of the best and safest ways to send mail; but due to the increase of services in this service, the price of using this service is a little higher.

ATD:

In this method, the mail is received from the sender’s airport and sent directly to the recipient’s home. This method is also one of the safe and simple methods that cost less than the first method.

ATA:

In this method, the sender sends the parcel from the airport of Iran so that the recipient can receive the parcel from the destination airport. For this method, a lower fee is charged; because it is no longer necessary to send the parcel to the door and the recipient will receive his parcel from the airport.

DTA:

If the sender wants to present his parcel at home to the International Post Company, he can use this method. In the DTA method, the postal parcel is received at the door of the person applying to send the parcel, and then it will be sent to the destination airport of the recipient.

DDP:

The DDP method is a commercial method of sending postal items. In this method, the place of delivery of international postal parcels is at the place of purchase, and various services, such as freight and delivery to the destination country, and clearance of goods are also provided.
