A free-trade zone (FTZ) is a class of special economic zone. In this commercial zone, activities such as export and import of goods, warehousing, manufacturing and re-exporting can be done under specific customs regulation and generally not subject to customs duty. The free-trade zones are mostly around ports, airports and borders. These are the areas that have the greatest economic benefit to them.
